"Come and See" Jesus said to the two disciples who asked Him where he was staying. So they went and stayed with Him that day and they even noted the time: "It was about the tenth hour" (John 1:39 RSVCE). They noted the hour because it was a life-changing encounter. Not unlike our own experiences, when we recall significant moments in our lives or the life of our family or nation; we can recall exactly where we were, and what were doing when it happened. This encounter with Jesus was a game-changer. Take time to sit with this Scripture; put yourself in the scene and enter into what that experience was like.
St. Paul says that
"faith comes from what is heard" (Rom 10:17 RSVCE). He is stating that preachers and evangelists are needed to announce the Good News of Jesus (this includes you). Through this proclamation, faith is enkindled by grace. Let's take this a step further. Once we have heard the Good News and responded, we have a need for this Word to deepen within us, to mature. This will happen by hearing; hearing from the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The Lord wants to speak to us and these daily meditations with the Scripture give us an opportunity to speak personally, intimately with our Lord.
Have you been able to take time to speak heart to heart with the Lord?
Have you been able to listen? Sometimes having a journal with you, ready to write in it, can help you to yield to listening to the Lord. Don't be afraid to start writing and allow the words that come to your heart to be recorded. Trust the Spirit.
The Lord promises that those who seek Him will find Him.
